Mediation exhibits the work of three Bay Area artists whose practices engage with existing spaces and their societal formations. The works explore the temporal and spatial disjunctions necessary to establish our surroundings, thereby highlighting the manner in which spaces are perceived. Veering away from utopian modernist ideas, these works investigates the queering of space, the process of lens-based distillation and the discarded object. The pieces use the existing architecture, acknowledging the reality of its presence. They work with and against their surroundings to subtly intervene in the viewers experience. The artists include: Kait Mooney, Denali Schmidt and Dan Swindel.
